Halifax

We made the trip out east to visit one of the other Enns clans.   Oma and Opa flew with us too.  We had a great time.  P&L have a wonderful place in Glen Haven, about 35 minutes from Halifax, on the coast, just north of Peggy’s cove.   Rebecca was expecially delighted to get 4 whole days of play time with her cousins.  They had a riot.  We got to see a bit of Peggy’s cove, despite the -25 degree wind chill, walked around downtown Halifax, did some tobogganing, and walked to an island at low tide.   Of course we also celebrated Christmas together, as well as P&L’s birthdays.   It was a delightful visit.  I wish we could go again in spring, but it looks like we’ll be heading to the West coast to see D&M instead.  I know there are lots of pictures in the gallery, but check them out!  Even pictures of the newest Enns, Raina.

Christmas Day

We were lucky enough to be home on Christmas Day.  We convinced Grandma and Grandpa to come to us.  Grandpa dressed up for the occasion as you can see.  Rebecca really wasn’t sure what to make of that.  We had a lovely time opening gifts, and had a brunch later on.   Later in the day after nap time, we headed over to Grandma & Grandpa’s for another turkey dinner.   Check out the gallery.

Christmas Eve

Yes I’m late.  We were away, we all had a stomach flu, yada yada, you get the picture.  Anyways.  Christmas was a delight.   We celebrated Christmas eve with Oma and Opa.  Mom cooked a wonderful turkey dinner, and we opened a few presents, saving most for Halifax.  Rebecca loves rooting through Oma’s drawers…Here are some pictures.

Christmas Program

Rebecca was in the children’s Christmas Program.  She did really well!  We had practiced the two songs, but we weren’t sure if she would actually sing (or stay up on the stage with her class).  But she did really well!  She sang loud!  She smiled!  She danced!  When she came back to where we were sitting, she walked up to her grandparents and asked “Was that a good song, guys?”.  She asks her grandfather “Did you hear me singing, Grandpa?”.  We were all proud.

It was hard to take pictures.  The ones that turned out best were of Rebecca playing on stage before the actual performance.  See them here.

Family day

Well two years ago today we became a family of 3.  I can hardly belive it.   We made home-made pizza as a special treat.  Rebecca had a great time playing with the dough.  A was grating the cheese, and Rebecca picked up her hair brush and annouced “Let’s brush the cheese!”.  She says (and does) things like that all the time.  She had a blast dressing up while the pizza baked.   After supper we had a nice cake, and raspberries.  I gave Rebecca a small slice of cake, and some raspberries.  My child didn’t touch the cake.  She gobbled up the raspberries and asked for more!  More pictures in the gallery.

Good friends

Well I had a lovely night visiting with old friends from work.  It was delightful to catch up on everyone’s lives, and those were some good nachos!  From left to right, Susan, Jo-Anna and Jill.

Rebecca was playing with our Nativiy set today.  Thank goodness I bought the set from Paraguay made from Palo Santo wood, it’s very durable!  She told me today that she loved baby Jesus, and she wanted to give him her crib, since he only had a manger.  How loving is that?

Opa turns 75

Well our dear Opa turned 75 today.  We took him out for supper.  Rebecca and daddy enjoyed singing “Happy Birthday” to him at the top of their lungs, in the restaurant (twice too!).  Happy birthday Opa, we love you!

Gingerbread houses

Well we made our first gingerbread house as a family with the help of our caregroup.  We had structural difficulties (meaning our roof kept sliding off), so I had to put in candycane supports, and gingerbread men to hold it up.  Well, there is always next year.  The house is sparingly decorated on the roof because Rebecca thought it would be more fun to play than decorate.  She is having a good time picking the candy off!

Looking through the Christmas catalog

I gave Rebecca a toy catalog today, and asked her to look through it and point to things she wanted.  She was quite excited, but still a little puzzled about this.  Afterwards her and daddy were having a great time giggling and playing and I managed to capture the many moods of Rebecca, a rare occurence!  Check out the gallery.

Advent, snowmen and a new cousin for Rebecca

Rebecca is enjoying her Advent calendar.  She loves to go and feel it during the day to make sure there aren’t any more treats there.  Needless to say I have to fill it one day at a time!   Opa and Rebecca built some snowmen outside today.  I’m not sure who had more fun!  Opa is quite skilled in snowmen building, even digging through the snow for leaves and branches to decorate with!  Check out the gallery for a picture.

We are also delighted to have a new neice/cousin in the family!  Baby girl Enns, (name to be decided) arrived today in the wee hours of the morning.  Welcome little one! Pictures in the gallery.
