R’s sunday school program was this morning. It was great. Of course I especially loved R’s class’ presentation. They were first angels, then shepherds. So they had halos on, and also carried sheep and staffs. It is always great to see all those kids participating….and the famous brown paper bags they get afterwards, hasn’t changed much since I was a kid. Ok, it has, as I kid I remember lots of un-shelled peanuts in the bag! No peanuts now-a-days.
R’s last day of school before the holidays turned out to be a doozie. We knew there was a big snow storm coming, but at 8am, there was not a flake in sight. It started around 9am, when I dropped R off at school. The snow was falling heavily already. I was glad I had on my YELLOW PARKA. You just know it’s bad weather when I break out the YELLOW PARKA, it’s ready for any sort of snowstorm. Anyways. By the time I went to pick her up, the snow was already about 12 inches deep. We slogged through, a friend of R’s from school was having all his classmates and parents over for lunch. We had a great time. (oh, and so did the kids!). By the time we left around 2:30pm there was well over 18 inches. Agh! Digging out was a challenge, and it was a challenge even with snow tires to make it home. The side streets were just deep, deep snow. Today was also the first day that R watched part of the Sound of Music…Now on to the holiday!
Daddy had a good idea today, he took R to the local park to see the Christmas lights. He decided that it was a ‘warm balmy’ night (only around 0 degrees) so they went. I have now switched into Christmas panic mode, and decided I needed to hit the sewing machine. Things are progressing, that is the good news.
So, I was helping R get dressed in snow pants, jacket etc. As I was zipping her up, R tells me, “Mummy, you are the best zipper-puller-upper”. I said thanks, and she continues, “We should have a talent show, and you should pull up zippers”. So, there you have it. I am an expert zipper-puller-upper!
We had our annual Bamboo Bunch breakfast with Santa this morning. R didn’t mind sitting on Santa’s lap this year, and she also told him she’d been good this past year….well…I didn’t say anything contrary! R and N had a great time together, and sat together in the same chair colouring waiting their turn. I couldn’t resist snapping this picture.
