Disarray

I don’t like living in disarray. Most of the time my house is what I call “Pleasant disarray” which translates as a lived in house where there is stuff spread out. Displaced furniture however, that makes me un-easy. We’re getting some cabinets built in and therefore our living room and eat in area are all jumbled. It’s driving me crazy, and the cats too. They really don’t like having any furniture moved. Anways. I am trying to be ok with it, so in stead I’ll post some cute pics of my kids!
First my beautiful daughter, she co-ordinated this outfit pretty well wouldn’t you say?

Finally

Well, I finally did it. A small quilt top that I pieced oh, about a year and a half ago is finally done! I managed to put it together with batting and a backing, then actually machine quilt it on my own machine. What I learned is that I don’t really enjoy machine quilting! I enjoy piecing quilts, and getting someone else to actually do the quilting! Anyways. It is now finally in use as a play quilt for J.

Our good friend E also popped by. Here she is with J on the quilt.

Jolly jumper

He’s a jolly jumper all right! Today was the first day we put J in the jolly jumper. He quite enjoyed himself. He got the hang of it pretty quickly, and looked like a little marionettes with gentle bouncing, and gently tapping his robeez on the floor! Such a delight.

“And the little one said, roll over, roll over!

Yup, we finally had a repeat performance of the famous roll over. Daddy put J down in his crib (on his belly) and came back a moment later and found him on his back! We put him in the middle of our bed on his belly, and watched. He complained a bit first, then rolled onto his side where he stayed for a bit, then rolled onto his back!! Wow. Great work! He isn’t really pleased when he’s on his belly, hence the reason we don’t put him down like that often.

My baby is 6

Wow. I can hardly believe it. She’s 6!! Wow. What a lovely little girl she is. Smart, funny and very good at doing accents! We had a lovely day starting off with reading in bed. For dinner we met al the family at one of R’s favourite buffets and had a good time. And by the way J was only unhappy because he got an unexpected squeeze, he quickly cheered up.

Sigh…

So ya’ll know my daughter is obsessed with dresses. The longer & twirlier the better. So our dear neighbour J and her kids brought over a gift for R. It was a lovely dress, and R immediately went to put it on, and didn’t take it off until she heard that she could wear it to school tomorrow… here’s how the conversation went down in the car.

“”I love the dress J gave me. It is my favorite dress and so now I don’t like the other dresses in my closet. J is the best and daddy not so much because he gives me grey things to wear, and that is like dirt.” In addition she asked if she could wake up at 5am to wear the dress…
If I’m up at 5am because of the lovely dress dear neighbour J, you can expect a nice little girl on your doorstep at 5am!!!

I’ll get a picture up tomorrow.

Happy Birthdays

Today we celebrated 2 things. R had her ‘friend’ party. She decided to go swimming, just like last year. We had a good time in the pool, and cake after. Secondly, it was Grandma’s birthday, and we had a lovely dinner together. I’ll try to get a few more pictures up later on.

J tries sweet potato for the first time

He seemed to like it. He certainly opens up wide for it. R really wanted to try it, (as she has tried all his foods) and she loved it. Told me she could eat a whole jar. Well, good to know that she can finish off whatever he doesn’t like!

Such a lovely day

We had breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa. R and Grandpa went off to trim grapes and do other things. Later on we picked her up and took her to gymnastics class. After that R and I spent some time sorting coins. Apparently she is learning some of this at school. She went and got plastic cups for all the denominations, and carefully wrote coin values on masking tape and attached them to the cups. Then she and I did some counting. She is so smart, it always amazes me!

Afterwards we walked (in the SUNSHINE) to a wing place near us and had a nice dinner. J ate some oatmeal cereal and was happy with that. We walked back home and went out for icecream. What a lovely time. The kids then went to bed. J’s cold is getting worse, he is so stuffy. He also has the eye gunk and a little cough. Poor thing. Yet again he is pretty happy. We put the humidifier in his room at bedtime. About an hour later he wailed (we heard it on the monitor and went sprinting upstairs). It was pretty steamy in his room. He had a bottle, and settled down again. Poor thing.

I guess it was inevitable

So J started this lateset batch of colds while still on our trip. It made the rounds through all of us (as I’ve already complained to you) R having only suffered a short amount of time. Well J has something again. He has gunky eyes and a little cough. Poor guy. I must say he is a trooper, and is still pretty happy. He also had a mamoth 31/2 hour nap today. In other news, he also tried Oatmeal cereal today. He still doesn’t really have the eating thing down pat. His tounge is very busy swishing and twisting about while we tries to eat. Still, he seems to like it.
