We made it home safely.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 R watched her first full length movie on the airplane, Ratatouie.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 It was so funny to watch both her and daddy with their headphones on, stareing so intently at the screen.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I couldn’t even give her anything to eat.\u00c2\u00a0 I tried to wave a cracker in front of her eyes, she didn’t blink, her eyes stayed plastered to the screen.\u00c2\u00a0 I finally put it in her hand, a second later she drags her eyes away from the screen for a second which she used to toss the cracker\u00c2\u00a0back my way.\u00c2\u00a0 Ok.\u00c2\u00a0 Point taken.\u00c2\u00a0 Don’t bother me while I’m in my movie zone.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 She did drift off to sleep for the last bit of the movie which was good as it was nap time.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Oh I have to tell you what happened at the airport.\u00c2\u00a0 We finally made it through check-in and a very croweded security check, and I bought a bottle of water (as my daughter was hollering for a drink).\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I emptied the bottle into my re-usable SIGG container, and I looked around for a recycling can.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I couldn’t find one, and seeing 2 security guards, I went over to ask them.\u00c2\u00a0 I politely interrupted their conversation and asked where I could recycle the bottle.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The super tall (at least 6’5″) guard gives me a huge smile and says to me “You’re from Canada, aren’t you?”.\u00c2\u00a0 I laughed and replied I was.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 He said “you people up there recycle everything”.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I polietly agreed.\u00c2\u00a0 Then he told me they don’t recycle.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The garbage was the only option.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I asked if they recycled in the larger city of Ft. Lauderdale, he said no.\u00c2\u00a0 “Not even PAPER?” was my response.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 No he replied.\u00c2\u00a0 He told me he had lived in Canada for 7 years and was quite into recycling.\u00c2\u00a0 He seemed pretty ashamed that there wasn’t any sort of recycling.\u00c2\u00a0 WOW.\u00c2\u00a0 Here in my ignorance, I assumed that most of Canada and US recycle!\u00c2\u00a0 It is so sad.\u00c2\u00a0 Even our cruise ship had paper recycling bins in every stateroom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
